This silly baby monkey hanging from his mama reminded me of how it is in yoga class (and life) sometimes:)
~If it's at yoga class!! There is something so freeing when you act like a child acting like an animal. Today in my "You and Me" yoga classes at the JAHA Children's museum, the preschoolers (and their grownups) acted like animals for some fun yoga poses. Lots of giggles!

In honor of this snowy snowy Spring day, my young daughters and I put on our hats and boots and played outside. While we were playing, my 7 year old looks at this tree (her tree) and says...."Let's do FROZEN TREE POSE!" What a great idea. We stood in tree pose, or something that resembled tree pose, and gave our best "frozen" faces. If nature give you ice and snow....go with it!
This is a great idea one mom had! Her kids wanted to play video games. She was looking for something that was good for them. They found yoga games to play and everyone wins! Great job kids! Look at those hands at their heart centers-little yogis for sure:)
I like to think that after a You and Me or Family yoga class that the adults and kids think about the fun they had in class and take some of what I taught them home. But one can't be sure. Last night my two little girls were having trouble getting settled down to go to sleep- the promise of fruit smoothies for breakfast proved to be just too exciting for them! :)
Over the baby monitor I heard my husband tending to them. He got them comfortable in their beds, turned off the night and reminded them to do their "belly boat breathing". They replied with a simple "ok daddy." I was proud of my husband and my girls in that moment. The girls quieted down and the night was calm:) Yoga breaks during the school day are a wonderful way to clear the mind and relax during a busy day.
Today at the Jaha Children's Museum in Johnstown, FAMILIES enjoyed some circus themed yoga fun. We pretended to be tigers jumping through rings of fire! At the end of class we relaxed on our parachute "circus tent" and floated away like on a flying trapeze.
I am very excited to visit my daughter's 2nd grade class again today! We will be having fun with our parachute outside today- yay for Spring weather! A great way to relax, have fun and clear their minds after a long week of testing:)
Join me for some yoga fun as we move and play and act like animals in my "You and Me" yoga class. Class is from 10:30-11:00am at the Johnstown Area Heritage Association Children's Museum. Come dressed to play (adults too)! This is a great time to bond with your children. Even if you don't do any poses with your child, they will benefit from you playing right there beside them!
~A little Yoga cheer for you and your kids to say together (a daily mantra)
"I am happy! I am good! I can listen, when I should!" Today, 2nd grade students learned to stretch, breathe and clear their minds before an exam during a Yoga by Kristen "Classroom Yoga" lesson.
