Apple Picking: Stand tall in Tree Pose, balancing on one foot strong and still. Breathe. Try this on the other foot as well...can you balance better on your right foot or left foot? Next, with both feet planted firmly on the ground, reach high and pretend to pick apples from the tall trees. Stretch and unwind as you reach for each apple.
Apple tossing: Now that you have collected all of your imaginary apples, let's use them for a game that increases focus and attention. Roll up some socks (these are your apples) and toss them into a laundry basket a few feet away (your apple bin). If this is easy, take a few steps back and try again. Encourage your kids to congratulate each other on trying their best rather than laughing at each other if they don't make a single basket. (It's never too early to teach about teasing and bullying!)
After your fun yoga games you may be hungry so grab a healthy snack. I am suddenly hungry for apples! Enjoy:)
